What is copyright?

Copyright protects originally authored works.

Scavenger Hunt Activity: We will use a scavenger hunt to locate and familiarize ourselves with copyright and related topics.

Instructions: The scavenger hunt below has six activities. Respond to the question of an activity by locating the correct responses found on the web site links. An answer key is linked at the end of the activities for you to evaluate your knowledge on copyright and fair use. A worksheet has also been provided for your responses. Please Download the Worksheet Document.

The YouTube.com video above provides an introduction for educators to copyright and fair use.

Mr. Jones, the owner of a small store, hired a company to create a website. The company designed the website.
A few of the pictures on the new site were taken from www.donotstealpics.com(ficticious) which was found from a Google image search.
Soon representatives from www.donotstealpics.com contacted Mr. Jones about using the images without their permission.
Mr. Jones correctly pointed out that he did not design the site and was unaware of the images being taken from their site.
