Graduate Students Association Mentor
"I am proud to have contributed to this groundbreaking endeavor."
Creating a graduate student organization in an asynchronous online setting represents the kind of radical change influencing the perception of what's possible in education currently.
In devising unique approaches to overcome the challenges posed for an organization communicating asynchronously, we inadvertently improved the sense of community between facilitators and students.
In improving this sense of community, which is an important goal for effective online education, we reduced the "proverbial distance" between community members and improved the flow of information.
Several student organizations throughout the United States petitioned our body for assistance in developing their gradutate distace learning bodies and gained valuable feedback from our succcesses and failures.
"Appreciating that we were among the first generation of students to face this type of scenario makes the contribution as mentoring officer that much more worthwhile."
